Ann's mother, Prescilla, was a pioneer in helping propel woman's rights issues in Mumbai, India. For over fifty years, Prescilla had a simple and effective method of teaching women how to pattern draft and sew. These women learned how to be independent by having a source of income. This sparked a mini revolution in Mumbai as many of her students in turn have taught others to earn a living. Ann initially learned sewing and pattern making by attending these classes at an early age.

Ann lives and works in New York.
